Voter's Understanding Of Economy Based Entirely On Price Of Eggs
They're just big on the economy, and the economy is eggs.
A local poll recently found that the most important issue for voters this upcoming election is "the economy."
The economy is a very important issue for most voters, but what a healthy economy looks like is seemingly different for everyone. While some voters will take into account the unemployment rate, the national debt, the national deficit, and the rate of inflation, one voter we polled found all they needed to know about the economy from one single factor: eggs.
After being polled, the voter agreed to do a follow-up interview with us, but wished to stay anonymous. While the voter did not disclose their political affiliation, I’ll let you know they were a man, and they were chewing on a toothpick.
The voter said the economy was "in the worst shape it’s ever been in" and asked if I’ve "even seen the price of eggs," with the concern of a parent searching for their lost child.
When we offered statistics that could indicate the economy is anything but "the worst," the voter would point to one factor: eggs.
"Did you know eggs are $9.00 per dozen?"
"Last I checked, eggs are the most expensive they’ve ever been."
"Eggs taste great with ketchup."
All claims they made about eggs were exaggerated and false, but it was too late. They had already built their entire understanding of the U.S. economy around these false claims about eggs.
Beware of misinformation this election season. When in doubt, cross-check various sources to find the facts. Just as important, check the price of eggs at Walmart.com/browse/food/eggs.
