Trump Supporter Claims They’re Not Racist; Just Their Interpretation of the Constitution
“It’s the Constitution! Not me!”
The Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 ruling to restrict federal judges ability to block the President’s executive orders.
The ruling was made as the Trump administration attempts to end birthright citizenship, and the ruling will allow the administration to follow through with that attempt in the 28 states that have not challenged the order.
When asked for comment, one Trump supporter said:
“I’m not racist, so let’s get that out of the way.
This is just the way the Constitution was written.”
Another Trump supporter spoke to us specifically about historical context of the Constitution:
“First things first, I’m not racist, so let’s get that out of the way.
Second, the 14th Amendment was meant for babies of slaves only and no one else.
My hands are tied! This is how the Constitution was written.”
As we interviewed more Trump supporters, a curious pattern emerged:
They were helpless against their racist interpretation of the Constitution.
A cruel fate for a non-racist person.
They would plead, “this is just the way the Constitution is written - I’m not racist.”
One man even spent countless hours of internet research:
“I’ve spent all night doing internet research on the U.S. Constitution, and I just keep arriving at these racist interpretations.
And I forgot to say by the way, I’m not racist, so that’s not the issue.
When asked if the Trump children might be subject to the consequences of doing away with birthright citizenship, one Trump supporter answered, “No. Why would they?”
