The Odyssey Available In Kurt-Vision Format; Includes Original Animated Character ‘Kurt’ in Bottom Corner
The fun-loving character was created by Christopher Nolan himself!
Miss out on tickets to see Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm?
Well, all hope is not lost yet as a new format, comparable to IMAX 70mm, was just announced.
The new film format designed by Nolan is called Kurt-Vision, and it presents the film in the same, beautifully crafted 1:43:1 aspect ratio as the IMAX 70mm print, but with one distinct twist: an original, animated character named Kurt hangs out in the bottom-right corner of the screen for the duration of the film.
The original character was created by Nolan himself and seemingly tags along with Odysseus and crew throughout their journey, all from his fixed position in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Sporting his signature backpack and snacks for the trek, Kurt is ready to fight any battle and endure any tests thrown his way by the gods… as long as he’s not hungry.
Reactions began pouring in after an early preview showing of The Odyssey in Kurt-Vision:
“What the fuck is this?”
- Derek L.
“He kept adding commentary like ‘Whoa!’ or ‘Lookout!’ anytime a character was approaching Odysseus or whenever something was about to fall.
He was very concerned with items falling.”
- Trish A.
“Sometimes he’s animated to be an active participant in the scene, and other times he’s just staring out at the audience; eyes glazed over.
Like 6-minute stretches where he’s looking out at the audience, disassociating, and you just want to clap to wake him up a bit.”
- Diamond J.
