"The Game Was Most Physical In My Era," Says 5'3", 136 lb. Muggsy Bogues
"Guys would bump into you and you'd go flying."
There have been many comparisons made between NBA eras as of late with a popular debate being, "which era of the NBA was the most physical?"
Former player JJ Redick claims that today's game is just as physical, only in a more regulated fashion. Players of the '80s and '90s have pushed back against Redick's argument and now Muggsy Bogues has weighed in.
Bogues, famously one of the smallest players in NBA history, claims that his era of the NBA (1988 - 2001) was the most physical:
"In my era, guys would bump into you and you'd just go flying. I watch games today and I just don't see that."
Bogues, seemingly confusing his own personal experience with the general experience, also had this to say about the height of NBA players in the '90s:
"They were taller back then - they were. I would be in games and everyone towered over me. Now, I watch games on TV and everyone looks to be the same height, more or less."
