If you were hoping for a few more weeks of cool, spring days, you may be out of luck.
The first sunburnt redhead of the season was spotted in Tulare, California on Monday, signaling an early start to the summer season.
Like leaves changing colors, or a groundhog seeing his shadow, a sunburnt redhead can serve as a sign for a nearing season.
That said, you have to know what to look for. The sunburns on a redhead that will most indicate the start of summer include:
Back Burn - If a redhead’s back is burnt, they had their shirt off. Now, a redhead isn’t going to take their shirt off year round; it’s gotta be worth it. A warm day by the pool? That’s worth it. That’s summer.
Foot Burn - One of the harshest burns, a sunburn on the top of one’s foot tells the story of a barefoot frolic or a day out on the boat. That’s summer.
Quad Burn - Showing leg are we? Was it a swimsuit on the beach, or shorts at a ballpark? Either way, that’s summer.
Since these sunburnt redheads serve an important role in marking the passage of time, the only decent thing to do is to support them in their season of need.
Here are ways you can help:
Offer Sunscreen - If it’s not 50 SPF or higher, they don’t want it!
Give ‘Em the Shady Spot - These fair skin friends are just aching for the shady spot. And if there is no shady spot, create one with an umbrella or a draped towel.
Stock Aloe Vera - Let’s hope it doesn’t reach this point, but if a redhead gets burnt, they’ll be begging aloe. Be a good friend and stock up before the burn happens.
