Ryan Murphy Gets Life Rights to Troubled Teen Who Hasn't Killed Anyone Yet
Although he hasn’t killed anyone yet, Murphy senses potential.
Ryan Murphy has purchased the life rights of troubled teen, Wesley McConnell.
Wesley McConnell is a misguided 16-year-old teen who hasn’t killed anyone just yet, but Murphy senses potential.
The acclaimed true-crime producer said, "Wesley hasn’t killed anyone yet, but when he does, I want to make sure I have the first go at his story. Ideally, it’ll be an 6 to 8 episode series so I’m already following his day-to-day life to see what those first couple episodes could be."
McConnell, is a high school sophomore from a small town who fills his free time with video games, browsing Reddit, and going down various YouTube rabbit holes, so you can see where Murphy is coming from.
But what does the young McConnell boy think of all this?
"I’m actually down with it. He just emailed me and offered $50,000 to ‘tell my story.’ I’m like 98% sure I’m not going to be a murderer in this life, so I don’t take it personally. Plus I’m a fan of his show Glee."
If Murphy strikes out on the McConnell kid, he has a number of teens and young adults waiting in the wings.
"I just peruse various subreddits and look for the ones that leave the most sinister replies," said Murphy. "Nothing’s promised in this business and everything’s a gamble, so we’ll see what happens."
