Out of respect for those lost on September 11, 2001, President Trump has ordered the Twin Towers tribute lights be lowered to half mast.
“No one has ever thought to do it, but I said, ‘Why not Trump?’ And so we did it; we lower the lights to half mast, and maybe, out of respect, we go even lower.”
The Twin TowersTribute in Light is a commemorative art installation that remains lit each September 11th from dusk to dawn.
It’s a memorial that’s honored fallen New Yorkers for the past decade and a half, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved upon, according to the president:
“Maybe when the Knicks, win another championship, we make the lights that come out of the Twin Tower holes orange and blue. Wouldn’t that be nice? Maybe Trump can make that happen.”
The president then launched into a countdown from ten, where he was under the impression the Twin TowersTribute in Light would turn on at the end.
They did not so the president left spectators with a poignant reminder to “Always Remember, or, as some put it, Never Forget.”
