Potential Government Shutdown Could Alter Mike Johnson’s Weekend Plans to See Sonic 3
A deal needs to happen by 12:01am, otherwise… good luck avoiding spoilers, Mike!
The federal government is at risk of shutting down if House Speaker Mike Johnson can’t come up with a spending bill both Republicans and Democrats are happy with.
Merely two days ago Johnson had a tentative plan in place that both sides were on board with - that’s when he made the mistake of planning to go see Sonic the Hedgehog 3 with his children this weekend.
Mike Johnson and his family love the Sonic the Hedgehog movies. In fact, some say Johnson’s mind has been “focused on Sonic” and that’s the reason a deal hasn’t been made yet.
It’s even been said that Johnson was originally planning on showing up to work on Friday with slicked back hair just like Sonic, but once the severity of the situation set in, he decided against the move.
Another reason a deal hasn’t been made: Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
They hate Sonic, and hate the fact that Sonic has been on the mind of the House Speaker when he should be thinking of ways to hurt federal workers.
A deal getting done would both ensure federal workers get paid over the holidays and allow Mike Johnson to see Sonic 3 this weekend - both things Musk and Trump would hate to see happen. You could say they’re like Shadow in that way.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has until Saturday at 12:01am to pass a spending bill and avoid a government shutdown, ultimately allowing him and his family to see Sonic 3 this weekend.
