Paul Mescal Cast As The Unknown In "Wonka 2"

The actor will be the first to portray the mysterious character.

Paul Mescal has agreed to star as The Unknown opposite Timothee Chalamet's Wonka in "Wonka 2".

Despite his recent please to stay anonymous, Mescal decided to sign up for "Wonka 2" once the star-making role of The Unknown was worked into the script.

"The Unknown is a great character. All great characters have this air of mystery about them and The Unknown is no exception," Mescal stated.

When asked his opinion on the character originating from a script created by A.I., Mescal said, "You know, I think all of us in these creative industries are fundamentally against artificial intelligence, but that also speaks to how intriguing the character of The Unknown is; that we would all put aside our beliefs temporarily so that this character could be seen on the biggest stage possible. And luckily the WGA agreed." Mescal is referring to the fact that the Writers Guild of America is making an exception to their rule against A.I. usage for this role.

"Wonka 2: Tales of The Unknown" arrives in theaters December 25th, 2025.
