Pat Sajak Urges 'Wheel of Fortune' Producers To Allow Him To Create A New Letter As Retirement Gift
Sajak apparently believes the show has authority over the alphabet.
The shouting of demands have been heard throughout the studio halls:
"Just give it to me, please! I've worked here for 40 years - I deserve a little respect!"
Upon the announcement of his retirement, Pat Sajak (76, Repub.), has reportedly been using his tenure and upcoming departure to guilt the staff into a goodbye gift, more specifically, a new letter of the alphabet.
Sajak believes if he pushes the producers of the game show hard enough, they will eventually gift him a new letter of the alphabet. The only problem? They do not have creative control of the alphabet. This has created unfortunate tensions as Sajak was under the belief that not only did the show have creative control of the alphabet, but that they created it as well.
One anonymous source on set says Sajak tried to confide in them; venting to them about his problems, saying, "We created 26 of these things, what's 1 more gonna hurt?"
Does Sajak have any plans for what he wants the 27th letter of the alphabet to be? According to our source: "Not yet. He says he's working on it and then he'll show me mockups, which are just like scribbles on a piece of paper. But he does know the positioning - he wants it to be between Q and R."
