Owner of Christmas Shoe Store Not Buying the “Sick Mom” Excuse This Year
“There’s not much time”? You’re a customer here; you don’t set the pace.
This Christmas you’re going to need exact change.
At least that’s what one local shop owner is saying after he claims he was almost taken advantage of last Christmas.
The owner of a local shoe store says he was nearly scammed last Christmas when a child tried to push for a discount on shoes by claiming his mother was going to “meet Jesus tonight.”
“The kid said he wanted to buy Christmas shoes for his sick mom.
Okay, but he didn’t have enough money and kept rushing me, saying ‘Hurry, not much time.’
Hurry?! This is my Christmas shoe store! No one tells me to hurry in my Christmas shoe store… I’ll make sure the whole family meets Jesus tonight. How about that?”
The owner of the shop claims he turned the child down for not having enough money for the shoes, only for the next patron in line to fall for the act.
“The next fellow in line overheard the whole thing and paid the difference.
Always going to be suckers in this world.
Guy ended up writing a song about it; made the kid out to be a saint.
Ridiculous.”
The owner of the shop claims the boy returned the Christmas shoes to the store the very next day, asking for store credit.
Therein lies the scam:
Purchase product at a discount.
Return product, demanding full refund.
The shop owner says he’s simply bringing the issue to light so that other shop owners don’t fall for scams this Christmas.
His final warning: “Not all of these kids are on the nice list exactly.”
