They say choking is easy, but performing CPR is hard.
Well, no need to worry - Noah Kahan just released a new song that will make performing CPR easier than ever!
Don’t be fooled, though: with a BPM (beats per minute) of only 30, you shouldn’t be pacing chest compressions to the beat.
However, with the lyrics of the song, Breathe (Again), Kahan wrote what the American Heart Association calls “the most accurate instructions for CPR we’ve ever heard.”
The Association recommends turning the song on when a friend is choking, or simply memorizing the lyrics, which include:
Driving straight through the light
Barely heard you choking that night
Two hands centered on the chest
Elbows locked, don’t you rest
I push hard, I push fast
Dear, you know that I’m in it
With a rate of compressions
100 per minute
The song is off to a hot start, netting 2 million streams in the first 24 hours of its release.
However, many fans are mixed on life saving song:
"What the hell is this?"
Amanda C.
“Is it a good song? I don’t know. Is it a good CPR song? For sure.”
Darius K.
“In the song… is he performing CPR while driving?”
Brit A.
“I tried using this song to save my choking friend and he didn’t make it.
Took too long to get to the chorus.
Lot of stage setting with this one.”
Burt W.
Breathe (Again) is out now exclusively on Tidal.
