Moral Dilemma Proving Difficult for Man to Solve Without Jason Statham Film Depicting Exact Scenario
Do I… just shoot a gun?
We live in difficult times.
Our government is being run in an unprecedented fashion and the most vulnerable among us are being targeted by said government.
As the authoritarian-style leadership pushes us to a boiling point, there is a curious subset who is having a really hard time deciding where to land on all of this morally.
The group operates within the conservative sphere and they get their morality exclusively from action-revenge movies.
Kyle Marks, a 55-year old member of the group, said that while he initially believed in the teachings of the Bible, his morality slowly began to mirror the lessons of the films he watched: action-revenge movies.
"My fascination started with Taken, where I saw Liam Neeson shooting a gun to solve problems and I said, ‘That’s me.’
Then I watched John Wick, where I saw Keanu Reeves shooting a gun to solve problems and I again thought, ‘That’s me.’
Then I watched Jason Statham shooting a gun in The Beekeeper and thought, ‘Okay, this is me to a T.’"
Marks isn’t alone either.
In fact, the wide sweeping phenomena affects nearly 75% of conservative males.
The problem? They don’t know how to apply the moral lessons of the film unless they encounter the exact plot from the movie.
Marks displays this in our exchange here:
ASS News: So what did you learn from the movie Taken?
Kyle Marks: So with Taken, I learned that if there’s an evil Italian that is trafficking women, I’ll find them and shoot them with my gun.
ASS News: And if the man isn’t Italian?
Kyle Marks: I don’t know… I still shoot him? Is that right?
ASS News: I don’t have an answer; these are your beliefs, Kyle.
Kyle Marks: Then I don’t know.
Later in the exchange we discussed the current political climate:
ASS News: Do you have any feelings towards the government’s current display of power?
Kyle Marks: Not particularly. I don’t know if I’ve seen a movie about this sort of stuff before.
ASS News: Have you ever watched Star Wars?
Kyle Marks: Sure, but that’s in space.
ASS News: Yeah.
Kyle Marks: Honestly, I think I’m going to wait until The Beekeeper 2 comes out, and if that’s about a government takeover, it’ll sort of show me how to go about that morally.
