Madame Tussauds Reveals Unknown Woman “Laurie”
She stands at 5'4", has no last name and wears clothes.
This weekend at the famous Madame Tussauds Hollywood, a new wax figure was unveiled: Laurie.
Laurie stands at 5'4", has no last name and wears clothes.
Although many showed up for the mystery unveiling, seemingly none of the attendees knew who Laurie was.
"I have no idea who Laurie is."
- Albert M.
"Laurie sort of looks like an androgynous peasant. Was that the goal? I really don't know what show or movie they're in."
- Monique A.
"She's got a bob and one large eye. I kinda dig that."
- Peter S.
We pulled aside the artistic director for Madame Tussauds Hollywood and had a conversation about the decision to make a Laurie figure.
ASS News:
"So tell us about Laurie. Why Laurie?"
Artistic Director:
"I was psyched to see the Laurie wax figure. I've been a fan of Laurie for years and so I was 100% behind the decision to give him his own wax figure."
ASS News:
"I'm sorry, 'him'? I was under the impression Laurie was modeled after woman.. is that incorrect, or-"
Artistic Director:
"Watch yourself. And, yes, that is indeed incorrect. Are you not familiar with Hugh Laurie? One of our great actors today?"
ASS News:
"That's supposed to be Hugh Laurie?"
Artistic Director:
"Well, I mean... your surprise is offensive to be frank."
ASS News:
"It just doesn't look a thing like him and why wouldn't you put his full name?"
Artistic Director:
"First off, hindsight is 20/20, so take that into account when commenting on the design. Second, all the letters for the sign didn't show up in time."
Shortly after our interview, Madame Tussauds Hollywood announced they will be placing Laurie in storage until all the letters for the sign arrive.
