Fan Just Hoping for a Good Game with a Controversial Ending
"Give me something to talk about at work."
Sports fans just want one thing: for their team to win it all.
But what if their team is no longer in the hunt? What then?
One local woman is giving us insight into what she’s rooting for since her team didn’t make it to the Super Bowl:
“I want a good game, but even more than that, I want it to end with a controversial call; a bad call even.”
The woman, a Miami Dolphins fan, says that she can’t bring herself to root for the Eagles nor the Chiefs, and will instead root for the game to give her something to talk about at work the following day, stating:
“If the game doesn’t end in a controversial call, what else will we talk about at work?
At the end of the day, I just want something to talk about.
I believe it was Bonnie Raitt who said,
‘Let’s give ‘em something to talk about.
Let’s give ‘em something to talk about.
Let’s give ‘em something to talk about.
How about love?I feel so foolish, I never noticed
You'd act so nervous
Could you be falling for me?
It took a rumor to make me wonder
Now I'm convinced I'm going under
Thinking 'bout you everyday
Dreaming 'bout you every night
I'm hoping that you feel the same way
Now that we know it, let's really show it, darlin'Let's give 'em something to talk about,
She says something like that - you get the gist: we just want something to talk about.”
But what about the commercials, the halftime show, or Gatorade colors? Don’t those offer some sort of fodder for coworkers?
No, she wants blood:
“It has to be the ending of the game. It needs to be botched.”
You can watch the Super Bowl is this Sunday, February 9th and, hopefully, complain about it at work on Monday, February 10th.
