After a series of questionable staffing decisions this week, ESPN is now showing the direction their company will be heading with the hiring of A.J. Befumo and Eric Befumo, better known on TikTok as "A.J. & Big Justice."
The father and son duo are famous for their love of Costco foods, and for rating various food items on their "Boom Meter," which will now be trademarked and owned by ESPN and The Walt Disney Company.
The social media stars currently have 1.9 million followers on TikTok, which more than qualifies them to be talent on ESPN.
The network plans to feature A.J. and Big Justice in small weekly segments on First Take, The Pat McAfee Show, and College Gameday, before launching their own daily talk show titled BOOM! with A.J. & Big Justice this October.
ESPN talent has praised the hiring, including A-lister, Stephen A. Smith:
"I’ve been watching A.J. & Big Justice for a while now and their enthusiasm for what they do is undeniable. I’m happy to be on the same team as those guys."
Another talent, Kendrick Perkins, added to the chorus of praise. The career 5 PPG scorer said:
"This job isn’t easy, but I know it’ll be easy for A.J. and Big Justice. In fact, if ESPN links us up and puts us on a show together, I think it might just be the highest rated show this network has ever seen. Ever. Carry the hell on!"
ESPN may have more hiring moves to come. The yet to be confirmed rumor states that A.J. and Big Justice’s co-star, The Rizzler, is in consideration to get his own ESPN TikTok Live show. Even more, if the show is a success, the 8-year-old superstar is in line to replace Zach Lowe’s appearances on NBA Today.
