The results of the 2024 election sent Democrats on a soul searching mission to answer to the age old question:
“Who are we?”
One would think that question would be easy to answer.
What do you mean, “Who are we?”
Don’t you have a platform stating what you believe?
What’s the issue?
Unfortunately, sometimes easy questions are hard.
The past few months have seen the Democratic Party try it all:
Trying to find their Joe Rogan
Trying to go viral
Trying to set the self driving speed of Trump’s Tesla to 88 mph
The one thing they haven’t tried is an idea so crazy, it just might work:
Voting with the Republicans.
And there’s just one man crazy enough to try it:
The leader of the Democrats in the Senate, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Sounds crazy, right? Well… yup.
Most all Democrats believe the GOP-written funding bill is too vague, leaving room for Republicans to make cuts without specifying where those cuts will be made.
However, Minority Leader Schumer has his reasons for why voting with Republicans might be the best course of action:
“We’ve tried everything else except this, so maybe this is the answer. Maybe this is our thing?
Also, if we take the first step in showing unity and solidarity, truly putting the American people first, then Republicans will reciprocate next time we’re in power.”
Well, you know how the ‘ol Democratic Party saying goes:
Fool me once? Shame on you.
Fool me twice? We’ll give you one more chance.
Fool me three times? You’re walking a thin line, pal.
Fool me four times? Now you’ve done it. Get ready for repercussions.
Fool me five times? I suppose this is democracy.
