After Patron Asks God to “Bless the Hands That Prepared the Food,” Applebee’s Line Cook Turns Into NBA Superstar
Direct hit!
The phrase “Bless the hands that prepared the food,” is a common line included in a standard, pre-meal prayer. So when a family was dining out at their local Applebee’s, they didn’t hesitate to say the line before enjoying nourishment in form of a Riblets Platter.
Little did they know, the Applebee’s line cook who prepared their Riblets was about to pop the hell off.
Tony Aguilar, the line cook that day, felt an unexplainable shift in his hand-eye coordination and physical abilities.
He began to dominate his recreational basketball league and landed on the radar of a NBA G-League scout.
After trying out for a G-League team, Aguilar made the team and would soon find himself making headlines, and eventually a NBA roster.
Once he made it to the NBA, Aguilar was known for his soft touch around the rim and his elite court-vision and passing, for which fans affectionately called him the “No-Look Line Cook.”
NBA legends even started to take notice of his game (and his brand deals).
“He had brand deals with both Applebee’s and K-Swiss.
He would eat Applebee’s as a pregame meal, and then bust your ass in some K-Swiss shoes.”
- LeBron James
Aguilar was the number one selling jersey in the league for 6 straight years, a scoring champion for 2 of those years, and became a cultural icon with the following accolades:
9 All-Star appearances
8 All NBA selections
2 Fortnite skins
1 Ben & Jerry’s flavor
5 times hosting SNL
2 Hollywood Walk of Fame stars
2 diamond-certified albums
4 Teen Choice awards
1 Razzie
He became larger than the game itself and became the first NBA player to appear in both the All-Star game and the Celebrity All-Star game in the same year.
As for the family that prayed for Aguilar that fateful day?
They continue praying for “bountiful blessings” and follow the prayer up by purchasing lotto tickets.
No dice yet.
